Crystal Lake Park District
Hitchcock Design Group's Steve Konters presented plans Thursday, January 17, 2008 for the new 134-acre Sunset Meadows Park located north of Route 176 and east of Briarwood Road that will include a 12-acre pond, hills with observation towers, 34 acres of wetland, a prairie, and a trail system that may connect to Lippold Park's trail system across Route 176 and to McHenry County Conservation District's planed trail system along the ComEd right of way north of the park.

The final master plan will be presented for park district approval in March or April.

MCC, located across the street from Barton Stream Development, is planning to expand. Here is information regarding IDOT road improvements.

Traffic

The impact of the Health, Wellness, and Athletic Complex on traffic can be minimized with several road improvements. Pending city, county, and IDOT approval, road improvements will be made at:

	Route 14 at Route 176
	Route 14 at Ridgefield Road South
	Route 14 at Lucas Road/MCC Entrance #3
	Route 14 and Ridgefield Road North
	Ridgefield Road at Tartan Drive

As part of the project, the College is prepared to fund these necessary road improvements with no tax rate increase. Traffic control plans, approved by the City of Crystal Lake Police Department, will be implemented on event days to manage vehicle and pedestrian flow. Traffic control measures will include shuttle buses, remote parking areas, controlled traffic signal timings, and officer traffic enforcement.
